Alpaca wool is a soft, durable, and spongy natural fiber obtained from the alpaca, a particular camelid bred in the Andean highlands of South America for over 5,000 years. It tends to be warmer than wool; it is hypoallergenic, naturally water-repellent, fire resistant and very breathable. These attributes make Alpaca wool a very elastic and easy to knit fiber.
